9/22 -Kamelot, Icarus Witch, Second Empire, Third Awakening @ Altar Bar
For power metal enthusiasts in Pittsburgh, it's been a damn good year. Iced Earth and
Symphony X have stopped by the city with a mighty gathering of fans that came out
to show support. This Saturday we will see another rare power metal performance by
Florida’s Kamelot. As part of nationwide US tour with Nightwish, Kamelot will be
playing an off date at the Altar Bar. Recently Tommy Karevik has replaced Roy Khan as
their original vocalist, and judging by videos uploaded to the web, Tommy has taken the
reigns quite well as the new vocalist while receiving positive reviews on performance.
As for local support, none other than Icarus Witch will be rockin’ the ‘burg alongside
Kamelot, Second Empire, and Third Awakening. This is Icarus Witch’s first show back
in Pittsburgh after an extensive East Coast tour with White Wizzard. Power metal and
symphonic metal fans don’t want to miss Saturday night’s concert!

9/23 - Saint Vitus, Weedeater, Sourvein, Molasses Barge @ The Rex
Doom metal fans and older metal heads have been screaming like schoolgirls since the
announcement of the Saint Vitus concert coming this Sunday at the Rex Theater. The
iconic doom band has been around since the late 70s and garnered themselves a huge
underground following. Scott “Wino” Weinrich is Saint Vitus’ frontman and noted
for being an iconic musician that helped create doom metal distinctive sound. Metal
heads certainly aren’t going to miss this concert! In tow with Vitus are Weedeater and
Sourvein, both doom metal bands who have made appearances in Pittsburgh within the
last year. The real treat will be Molasses Barge as the local opener. One of the heaviest
doom bands in town and made of members from Argus, Wrathcobra, Motorpsychos, and
Liquified Guts. Sunday night just got heavier than a football team’s nose tackle.
